Iberian cinema is not taking a vacation this summer. Actors, directors and producers are all hard-at-work finishing the next season’s line up.
On 7 July Vicente Perez Herrero’s fourth feature, a bittersweet comedy about love, hate and friendship, Cien maneras da acabar con el amor, went into production. Produced by Nisa with Tiempos Dificiles Films and starring Rosana Pastor and Carlos Bardem, the movie will be made on location in Turia and Madrid.
Seres Queridos, the directorial feature debut of screenwriters Teresa de Pelegrì amd Dominic Harari, is scheduled to go into production on 23 July, The film is a comedy about the Arab-Israeli conflict that a Spanish family experience firsthand after the daughter falls in love with a Palestinian boy. It is co-produced by Spain’s Tornasol Films, the UK’s Greenpoint Productions and the Film Council, Portugal’s Madragoa Filmes and Argentina’s Patagonik Film Group.
Silvia Quer opted for the Catalan capital, Barcelona, to make her directorial debut, Febrero, based on the novel by Eduard Marquez (Cinco noches de febrero – Five Nights in February). On learning of the death of a former lover, a man decides to find out why the affair ended. Produced by La Productora with a €1m budget, Febrero stars two renowned theatre talents, Julio Manrique and Laura Conjero.
Torapia by Basque actor, writer and director, Karra Elejalde, will go into production in September. Elejalde will direct the film with Fernando Guillèn Cuervo.
