The French director Bertrand Blier is due to reunite the fantastic pair Gérard Depardieu and Christian Clavier for his new film Heavy Duty [+see also:
film profile], which is being filmed in the heart of Brussels 16 years after the duo starred in Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra together.
The film crew has been in Brussels since 16 February (with filming due to wrap up at the end of March) to film Heavy Duty, the French director's first film since 2010 (The Clink of Ice [+see also:
film profile] starring Albert Dupontel and Jean Dujardin). He is collaborating once again with one of his cult actors, Gérard Depardieu, with whom he has previously filmed the unforgettable Going Places, Buffet froid, Too Beatiful for You and Tenue de soirée. They also filmed How Much Do You Love Me? together in 2005. It's the first collaboration between the director - who also wrote the screenplay - and the actor Christian Clavier.
As usual, Blier has assembled an impressive cast. Brussels is helping out, with the film also starring Bouli Lanners, Yoann Blanc, Stéphane Bissot, Charlie Dupont, Isabelle de Hertogh, Olivia Harkay, Stefan Liberski, as well as Alex Lutz, Guy Marchand, Alexandra Lamy, Louis Do de Lencquesaing, Sylvie Testud and Audrey Dana...
The film follows the adventures of Foster, who one day meets Taupin. Foster is wearing an overcoat, while Taupin is dressed in rags. All this would be trivial if it weren’t for the fact that one of them is in possession of a script, the script of their lives and deaths. All that’s left to do is open the pages and tremble with fear...
The film was produced by Olivier Delbosc (Curiosa Films), Ouille Productions (Christian Clavier's company) and Versus Production (Belgium). Orange Studio is co-producing the film and is also in charge of French distribution and international sales. The film is expected to be released in January 2019.
