film profile] by Copenhagen-based debutant Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason has continued its hot streak by winning another major Danish film award. After dominating the 34th Robert Awards (see the news) and receiving the Dreyer Award in recognition of outstanding artistic endeavours, the Danish-Icelandic co-production was also the winner of Best Film at the 71st Bodil Awards of the Danish Film Critics Association.
The awards ceremony, which celebrated the biggest achievements in Danish cinema, was held on 17 March at the People’s Theatre in Nørregade, and it was hosted by Mille Lehfeldt, Laus Høybye and Jakob Fauerby, of the satirical trio PLATT-FORM. For Winter Brothers, the jury stated: “Rarely has a debut film taken our breath away, as Winter Brothers did last year. Hlynur Pálmason has made a film that insists on exploring the potential of the film industry as an art form, which puts the audience’s brains, eyes and ears on glorious overtime.” Pálmason’s film also received a second Bodil for Best Cinematography, for Maria von Hausswolff, who also was the winner last year with Parents [+see also:

The rest of Bodil Awards were fairly evenly split, so there was no clearly dominant winner on the night. In the actors’ categories, the Bodils were divided among four different films. Amanda Collin received the Best Leading Actress Bodil for her performance in the relationship drama A Horrible Woman [+see also:
