PRODUCTION Iceland

Douglas “Bends” it

by

August will see Ròbert I. Douglas scouting locations for his next feature, Eleven Men. This time around, Douglas, the man who brought us A Man Like Me, chose to make a surreal social satire that has been described as a “cross between Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Ken Loach Does Iceland”.
The film is an hilarious comedy about a gay soccer team making their professional debut in the major league, and the problems the players encounter in their relations with their largely heterosexual peers. The film ends in the joyous expression of homosexuality that is Gay Pride.
Written by Douglas with Jòn Atli Jònasson, Eleven Men is an international co-production by the Icelandic Film Company, Finland’s Solar Films, Norway’s Borealis Production and the UK’s F.&.M.E.
