FESTIVALS Belgium

French-language production

by

The 12th edition of French-language Cinema Fortnight will run from 6-8 October at the Walloon-Brussels Centre in Paris. Organised in partnership with the Intergovernmental French-language Agency (AIF) and the Luxembourg Film Fund, the festival is non-competitive and features around forty short and features of all types and genres from French-speaking territories all over the world.
The focus this year will be upon Belgium, with a tribute to filmmaker André Delvaux who died on 4 October 2002. This is a “must” for the Walloon-Brussels centre especially since they named one of their main screening rooms in his memory. The centre is about to publish an anthology of Delvaux’s body of work in DVD – in collaboration with Brussels-based Boomerang Pictures Classics.
The fortnight is also an opportunity to look to the future with screenings of the work of young directors like Swiss-Belgian Ursula Meier and Belgian actresses Circé Lethem and Sandrine Blancke.
