FESTIVALS Germany

500 get passionate

by

The new Talent Campus at the Berlin Film Festival (7-12 February) will take place in the House of World Culture and the motto is ”Let’s Get Passionate About Films!”. 500 young filmmakers from all over the world will show their work and meet and greet with leading industry movers and shakers. Submissions can be made to the following web site no later than 10 October 2003. Then, until December, a committee of experts will select the directors, screenwriters, actors, producers and industry operators to invite to Berlin. For the first time this year, the Talent Campus is opening its doors to composers, sound designers and film editors.
“Following on last year’s huge success, we want to rebuild the campus,” said Dieter Kosslick, the artistic director of the Berlinale. “It makes a huge contribution to the festival and I am delighted that our partners in this event share that point of view and we will organise next year’s edition thanks to investors that are independent of the Berlinale proper.”
The Campus is also being organised by the Berlin-Brandenburg Film Board, the UK Film Council and the World House of Culture. For the first time, the partners/sponsors include Volkswagen who will present the awards for best musical score and sound design.
