PleinOPENair in Brussels

by

Scheduled to run form 15 August to 6 September at the Cinema Nova in Brussels, PleinOPENair was conceived of as a open-air showcase for screening rarely seen films about the transformation of urban life.
The programme includes Werner Herzog’s Green Ants, which will screen in the bucolic and surreal setting of the Moeraske while the celebrated Gardens of Brussels were chosen as the venue for one of King Vidor’s most famous films, the 1949 The Fountainhead starring Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. Mel Stuart’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will screen in the Midi neighbourhood, where the famous chocolate factory once stood and Claud Faraldo’s curious Thermoc will be showcased at Ixelles. The PleinOPENair programme also includes four films where the cities in question take on a starring role: Steven Soderbergh’s Schizopolis, Jan Svankmajer’s Otesanek and Michaël Glawogger’s Megacities and Wayne Wang and Paul Auster’s Blue in the Face.
