The Ville Lumière will host a special event promoting European cinema in November. The event is taking place at the behest of the French culture minister, Jean-Jacques Aillagon and is scheduled to extend its range of activities and become international.
Four institutions proposed themselves to the CNC for selection: the European Producers’ Club, Public Système Cinéma, Orbis Média and U+Me. A jury of various CNC section members will evaluate all submissions and announce their decision early in September. This project is a first tangible sign of France’s acknowledgement of the importance of showcasing European cinema. French companies have always been at the forefront of this kind of promotion and France is Europe’s leading co-producer of Continental films.
