Bob & Bobette live action


Willy Vandersteen’s famous 1945 Flemish cartoon, Suske en Wiske is being remade as a live action entitled De Duistere Diamant (The Dark Diamond), directed by Rudi Van Den Bossche (Olivetti 82), and featuring Vandersteen’s creations, Bob and Bobette.
Vandersteen also wrote the screenplay with Ilse Somers: during a farmhouse holiday, Bob and Bobette find a magical diamond in a forest. The film is being made on location in Bokrijk in Belgium and in a Rotterdam film studio. The cast includes Joeri Busschots as Bob and Céline Verbeeck as Bobette and Dirk Roofthooft as Lambique.
Produced by Cine 3, Antonino Lombardo’s Belgian slate, Bob and Bobette is a Dutch (Moved Media and Hetty Naaijkens; Retel Helmrich’s Scarabeefilms and VOV Sus&Wis and Kro), German (the Thoke Moebius Film Company) and Belgian co-production scheduled for release early in 2004.
