Serbia opts to take Offenders to the Oscars
- Dejan Zečević's arthouse thriller will represent the Balkan country in the Foreign Language Oscars race

This week Serbia announced their submissions for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award 2019. The Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences has opted for Dejan Zečević's black-and-white arthouse thriller Offenders [+see also:

film profile], which had its world premiere at the Chicago Film Festival and went on to win two critics awards, as well as Best Screenplay for Djordje Milosavljević at the Serbian National Awards at Belgrade FEST.
It may come as a surprise that the Academy's selection committee opted for this title over Mila Turajlić's IDFA winner The Other Side of Everything [+see also:
