L'adversaire
Renowned for her film work, Nicole Garcia remains true to the central themes the poetry she learned in the theatre. Her characters are all strong and complex. Her men (lead by protagonist, Daniel Auteuil) are all uneasy in their middle age and do not know which way to turn when they come to a cross roads in their lives. The film is based on the book by Emmanuel Carrère (de La classe de neige, Hors d´atteinte?, La Moustache): a man murders his wife, children and other family members and continues to live an elaborate lie for the next twenty years.
