Hilde’s new life
Production – Belgium De Kus, the directorial feature debut of Flemish actress Hilde Van Mieghem goes into production today. This is very much a "family affair", starring Van Mieghem’s daughter Marie Vinck and co-starring Jan Decleir, Koen De Bouw and the director.
Produced by Michel Houdmont of Signature Films and Dominique Standaert of Executive Productions, De Kus (The Kiss) follows the passage into adulthood of a teenager called Sarah who lives in Antwerp with her largely uncaring family, her brother, Sam, and sister, Céline. She is virtually friendless, the sole exception being Bas who’s in love with her. Sarah decides to escape from this oppressive domestic environment and meets Vic, a mystery man with whom she falls hopelessly in love.
This is not Hilde Van Mieghem’s first attempt at film directing ; she made a highly acclaimed and multiple award-winning short film in 1997 entitled De Suikerpot.
De Kus will be in production on location in Antwerp until 10 October and the film is scheduled for a domestic release in April 2004.
