- In the third film by Noémie Lvovsky the merry-go-round of emotions, fidelity, and betrayal between two couples who are friends. The cast stars Nathalie Baye and Jean-Pierre Bacri

The screenwriter for many French art-house films and the former casting director, Noémie Lvovsky has presented her third feature length film as a director, at the Venice Film Festival. Les sentiments, is a romantic comedy and is about the relationship between two couples who are friends (Nathalie Baye and Jean-Pierre Bacri, Isabelle Carré and Melvil Poupad, who has already appeared at the Mostra in Le divorce de James Ivory), all set in a French countryside reminiscent of The Woman Next Door by Francois Truffaut. The merry-go-round of love, friendship, fidelity and betrayal between the 4 protagonists, spins to the musical interludes provided by a choir, the fifth character in the film.

"The heart of the story comes from the characters", explained the director. Her Les sentiments is a move away from the auto-biographical nature of her previous works: "While Florence Seyvot and I were writing the script, we concentrated on the characters. We paid a lot of attention when we were creating them, without worrying about the story. This came later".

Les sentiments is produced by Claude Berri in a co-production with ARP, which will also be overseeing the French distribution of the film. It will be released in France in November, which will be followed by an Italian distribution with Andrea Occhipinti’s company, Lucky Red.
