French international sales agents make their first announcements at Cannes

- CANNES 2019: The Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival has evidently got off to a flying start for Playtime, mk2 Films, Indie Sales, Charades, Pathé International, SND and Les Films du Losange
Mk2 Films (see the line-up news) is getting started with pre-sales for the upcoming film by Norway’s Joachim Trier, The Worst Person in the World. With this movie, the filmmaker will conclude his trilogy about Oslo, which began with Reprise before continuing with Oslo, August 31st. As a reminder, Trier also helmed Louder Than Bombs and Thelma.
Likewise, Indie Sales (see the line-up news) is beginning pre-sales for On a Half Clear Morning by Bruno Dumont, starring Léa Seydoux, Blanche Gardin and Benoît Magimel. Principal photography for this 3B production, co-produced by Arte France Cinéma, Germany’s Red Balloon and Belgium’s Scope Pictures, will start in September.
Charades (see the line-up news) will be pinning its hopes on Pierre Pinaud’s social comedy The Rose Maker, toplined by Catherine Frot, which is being staged by Estrella. The shoot is slated to kick off in the summer.
Pre-sales are also getting under way in the Pathé International camp (see the line-up news) for Eiffel by Martin Bourboulon, which will star Romain Duris and Emma Mackey (Sex Education), and which will be set in the late 19th century, as Gustave Eiffel is faced with the task of designing the tower that will make him world-famous.
SND is officially kicking off pre-sales for the comedy A Friendly Tale by Daniel Cohen, which boasts a cast including Vincent Cassel, Bérénice Bejo, Florence Foresti and François Damiens.
As a reminder, prior to the market, Les Films du Losange announced the arrival of The Beast in the Jungle by Patric Chiha on its line-up; the movie will be toplined by Luxembourg’s Vicky Krieps and France’s Gaspard Ulliel.
