Buddy’s successful opening

by

Buddy, the critically acclaimed feature film debut of commercials director Morten Tyldum came only second after Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean over the last weekend and scored the 8th best opening for a Norwegian film at home.

The romantic comedy sold 37,828 tickets from 53 screens over five days and the local distributor Sandrew Metronome is very positive it should reach its expected 300,000 mark at the end of its run. The film was a major hit at the last Haugesund Film Festival where it won two prizes out of five: the Audience award and the ‘Feel good’ Award from Norwegian exhibitors. It was also a favourite at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival where it already took an Audience award.

Because of its universal appeal, Buddy will benefit from a pan-Nordic release from Sandrew Metronome who picked up the film at script stage from its producer Knut Jensen (Happy Endings).
