Mariage at San Sebastian
The Belgium filmmaker Benoît Mariage (Les convoyeurs attendent) will be presenting his new feature length film, L’autre, at the 51st edition of the International Film Festival in San Sebastian, which is taking place from September 18 to 27, 2003. The film will be shown in the “New Directors” section and it will be competing for the Altadis Prize, worth a total of €12,000. L’autre stars Dominique Baeyens, Philippe Grand’Henry, Laurent Khuenen, Jan Decleir and Bouli Lanners, and it is a co-production by Belgium (K2), France (K-Star) and Switzerland (CAB).
The film will also be shown as part of the 18th edition of the International Festival of Franco-phone Films in Namur. It is being distributed by Cinéart, and it will be released in Belgium on October 22, in 6 prints.
But the San Sebastian Festival will also be featuring other Belgium co-productions, including a special screening of the documentary Un rêve algérien by Jean-Pierre Lledo, produced together with France and Algeria. Meanwhile, the retrospective “Between Friends and Neighbours” will be featuring a further 5 co-productions between Belgium and Morocco: La trace by Nejia Ben Mabrouk (1982), Vivre au Paradis by Bourlem Guerdjou (1998), Femmes de la Médina by Dalila Ennadre (2001) and the new films Le soleil assassiné by Abdelkrim Bahloul, and Mille Mois by Faouzi Bensaidi.
