The script, penned in its entirety by Preston Thompson, follows the story of Pixie (Olivia Cooke), who seeks to avenge her mother’s death by masterminding a heist. However, her plans go awry and she finds herself on the run with two young men (Ben Hardy and Daryl McCormack), who are way out of their depth being chased across the wild Irish countryside by gangsters. She will be forced to pit her wits against everyone, taking on the patriarchy to claim her right to shape her own life. The film’s star-studded cast is enriched by the presence of actors Colm Meaney (Seberg, Tolkien), Dylan Moran (Metal Heart [+see also:

) and Alec Baldwin (Drunk Parents, Before You Know It). Moreover, DoP John de Borman (Slaughterhouse Rulez, If I Stay) will take care of the film’s cinematography, whilst musician David Holmes (The Laundromat, Mindhorn) will serve as the composer.

Speaking about the project, the director recently said: “I am excited to be returning to the Emerald Isle, the birthplace of my father and where I started my career directing documentaries, to make a comedic thriller with a wonderful cast against an extraordinary landscape. I am also thrilled that the film is going to be distributed in the UK and Ireland by Paramount Pictures, where I started my career producing movies.”

Thompson is producing along with James Clayton, while Peter Touche and Samantha Allwinton will serve as executive producers. The film is being produced by London-based outfits Ingenious Media and Fragile Films, with additional support from Northern Ireland Screen. Endeavor Content is in charge of the world sales, while Paramount Pictures has acquired the British and Irish distribution rights.

The crew will be filming Pixie in and around Belfast for seven weeks, with additional photography in the West of Ireland. An official release date is yet to be confirmed.
