Green Light for Cartoon Forum

New trends in animation techniques and the best in European creativity: these are the main features of the 14th edition of the Cartoon Forum being held in Varese (Italy) from September 17 to 20. The event is organised by the European Association of Animated Cartoons in Brussels, with the support of the European Union’s MEDIA programme.

There are 800 delegates registered for this year’s event, including 315 producers, 108 broadcasters and 154 investors, who will gathering in the city in the Lombardy region of Italy to see a total of 82 projects.

The event will also feature the 13th edition of the Golden Cartoon award, which is the only European prize for animation. This year 5 films will be competing for the prize: the British productions Dog by Suzie Templeton, NSPCC:Cartoon by Russell Brooke and The Dog Who Was a Cat Inside by Siri Melchior will be up against the French Ligne de vie by Serge Avédikian and Sans queue ni tête by Sandra Desmazières. The winner will be given a €15,000 grant from the MEDIA programme to be used for the pre-production of a more ambitious project, for example a feature length film or a special TV programme.
