Written by the director, the film paints the portrait of Ahmed, a young French man of Algerian origins, at the crucial moment of his sexual awakening. Through his decisive encounters with Farah, a young woman who has just arrived from Tunis, and with Arab erotic literature, he will emancipate himself and question what he believed to be his roots.

Produced by Sandra da Fonseca for Blue Monday Productions (a company headed by Bertrand Gore and Nathalie Mesuret), A Story of Love and Desire is co-produced by Arte France Cinéma. Pre-bought by Arte France, Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also supported by an advance on earnings from the CNC and by Sofica Cinémage. It has also benefited from scriptwriting grants from the Basse Normandie region and from the Groupe Ouest. The eight weeks of shooting will take place from 14 October to 10 December in Paris and its surroundings, with Sébastien Goepfert (You Will Die at 20 [+see also:
