Adapted by Jérémie Elkaïm (in collaboration with Gilles Marchand and Arthur Cahn) from the novel Calais mon amour by Béatrice Huret and Catherine Siguret, the script centres on Béatrice, a Front National supporter who lives with her son and her mother some 20 kilometres away from the Calais jungle, where 9,000 people are crammed together. One evening, as she leaves work, she gives a ride to a migrant teenager who asks her to drop her there. Her life dramatically changes. She becomes an occasional volunteer. Two years later, a group of Iranian refugees sew their mouths up to denounce their poor living conditions. Among them is Mokhtar, a teacher in his country, who has arrived in Europe after crossing the Mediterranean on a makeshift boat. Their eyes meet: it’s love at first sight…

Produced by Albane de Jourdan, Jérôme Salle and Marc Simoncini for Super 8 Production, A Change of Heart is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma. Also pre-bought by Canal+, the feature is supported by the Soficas Cinécap, Cofimage and SG Image.
