Meanwhile, the second edition of the Talent Village, which supports young filmmakers in their endeavours to make their feature debuts (see the news), will be blessed with a patron with an undeniable aura of prestige in the form of Isabelle Huppert, who will come along to share her experience and talk to them about their projects.

As a reminder, the countries being paid tribute to this year at Les Arcs will be Finland and the Baltic states (Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia).

Les Arcs Film Festival, which has already shown itself to be a trailblazer, thanks to the creation of the Femme de Cinéma Award in 2013, followed by the Femmes de Cinéma Lab (which has become an important think tank on the subject), is this year launching theCinema Green Lab in order to address the environmental transition within the film industry, from production to exhibition. In this strand, Les Arcs is planning to hold a number of workshops (working on an environmentally friendly charter for festivals) and will present some specific environmentally friendly initiatives (reduced-waste shoots, energy saving on set and in movie theatres). In addition, it will organise think tanks (on funding, institutions, certification labels and so on), a round-table on how stories are crafted (how the subjects are represented on screen and how to raise audiences’ awareness), "Cinema Green Lab"-certified films (according to their theme or their production method) included within the selection, a film debate with the general public about these topics, and the handing out of the Cinema and Environmental Commitment Award.

As a reminder, the professional sidebar of the Les Arcs Film Festival encompasses the Industry Village (14-17 December, including the Coproduction Village and the newly restructured Work-in-Progress on 16 December – see the news) and the Distributors’ and Exhibitors’ Summit (17-21 December).
