The European Film Awards have announced the nominations for the award category European Short Film 2019. Throughout the year, the respective international jury at the following film festivals –Valladolid International Film Festival (Spain), Uppsala International Short Film Festival (Sweden), Cork Film Festival (Ireland), Leuven International Short Film Festival (Belgium), International Film Festival Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France), Berlin International Film Festival (Germany), Tampere Film Festival (Finland), Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen (the Netherlands), Krakow Film Festival (Poland), VIS Vienna Shorts Festival (Austria), Hamburg International Short Film Festival (Germany), Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival (Portugal), Motovun Film Festival (Croatia), Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland), Sarajevo Film Festival (Bosnia & Herzegovina), OFF – Odense International Film Festival (Denmark), Venice Film Festival (Italy), International Short Film Festival in Drama (Greece) and Encounters Film Festival (UK)– has presented one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the EFA short film category. Based on this list of candidates, the participating festivals have nominated the following five short films.

Reconstruction - Jiří Havlíček, Ondřej Novák (Czech Republic)
The Christmas Gift - Bogdan Mureşanu (Romania/Spain)
The Marvelous Misadventures of the Stone Lady - Gabriel Abrantes (France/Portugal)
Watermelon Juice - Irene Moray (Spain)

The nominated films will soon be submitted to the more than 3,600 EFA Members to elect the winner. The European Short Film 2019 will then be presented at the 32nd European Film Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 7 December in Berlin.
