Heading for Africa

Belgium cinema is making its way to the lucrative marketplace of Northern Africa this month, in a series of events across Arabian-African. While the Festival of Marakesh opens with Mille Mois by Faouzi Bensaidi, a co-production between Diana Elbaum (Entre Chien et Loup - Belgium), Agora Films (Morocco) and Gloria Films Production (France), Algeria is hosting the Week of French Speaking Belgium Cinema.

This event is be taking place from September 17 to 24, and will be featuring 12 works, made up of a mixture of drama films and documentaries, which will be shown in a number of cities, including Oran and Algiers. The films on the programme include Un Divan à New York by Chantal Akerman, Au-delà de Gibraltar by Mourad Boucif and Taylan Barman, Mobutu, roi du Zaïre by Thierry Michel, Hop by Dominique Standaert, La promesse by Luc & Jean-Pierre Dardenne, L'ottavo giorno by Jaco Van Dormael and Le front du Nord - Des Belges dans la guerre d'Algérie by Hugues Le Paige.
