Jamie Bell for Vinterberg

The English shooting star Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) plays the lead role in Thomas Vinterberg’s new English language film, Dear Wendy which starts filming in Copenhagen’s FilmByen on September 26.

The cast of international promising young talent also includes Chris Owen (American Pie), Danso Gordon (American History X), and Mark Webber (Hollywood Ending).
Based on an original script by Lars von Trier, the film is a tough but humoristic portrayal of a young man’s fascination with guns, as well as a strong critique of gun trade and violence in today’s world. Joining the prestigious cast and crew are cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle and set designer Jette Lehmann who already worked with Vinterberg on his previous English language film It’s All About Love [+see also:

Dear Wendy is produced by Lucky Punch, a Nimbus Film/Zentropa joint venture headed by producer Sisse Graum Olsen. Other European co-production partners are Pain Unlimited (Germany), Slotmachine-Liberator 2(France) and Dear Wendy Ltd (UK). The DKr50m film was supported by the Danish Film Institute, Filmstiftung NRW, Arte France Cinema, TV2/Denmark, Canal+, Nordik Film & TV Fund, Eurimages, ArteZDF, Swedish TV AB-SVT and the MEDIA Programme. Nordisk Film will handle Scandinavian distribution (with a Danish release set for November 2004) with the international sales being looked after by Trust Film Sales.
