The company Filmstiftung Nordrhein Westfalen has contributed €650,000 for the new film by Wim Wenders which is called Don’t come knokin’. The announcement has been made by the spokesman for the most important German regional fund for film promotion, last Friday in Düsseldorf. The budget for the film also includes a further €500,000 that was given to the production in March by the Hamburg regional film fund (FilmFoerderung Hamburg - FFH) and €800,000 from the German Federal Film Board’s (FFA) and the committee supporting French-German co-productions: (Victoire Productions).
The film will be the story of Howard Spence, a former star of western films, played by Sam Shepard. Wenders is going back to work with the actor almost 20 years after Paris, Texas: and once again the American actor will be involved in the writing of the screenplay. Filming is due to start on the production next year. Starring alongside Shepard will be Jessica Lange, while the director of photography will be Phedon Papamichael (Identity, The million dollars hotel).
