Eduardo Campoy resigns

by

The president of the Federation of Spanish Associations of Audio-Visual Producers (the FAPAE) Eduardo Campoy, has resigned. He was elected to the position in 1999 and then re-elected again in 2001. In his resignation letter he stressed the importance for change in the staff “because, at such a sensitive time for Spanish cinema, the current system of negotiation is also changing”.
He couldn’t guarantee devoting 100% of his time to the position and so Campoy has announced his withdrawal, on the occasion of the 51st San Sebastian Festival, putting forward the name of Pedro Perez as a possible successor.

Over the last two years of his mandate, Eduardo Campoy has been actively involved in the drawing up of the law for the development and promotion of cinematographic and audio-visual works. He has also put up a strong fight with the national TV networks to make them invest 5% of their revenue into making feature length films for the European TV market, and in addition he’s been negotiating a plan for audiovisual exports with the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) .

Following Campoy’s announcement, the FAPAE has called a management committee meeting for October 15. In the meantime applications are now open for candidates, who have to be presented by the many associations involved with the FAPAE by October 6.
