The story of this new film, penned in its entirety by the director herself, tells of the vicissitudes of Sam Ali, a Syrian refugee. In order to be able to travel to Europe and get back the love of his life, the man agrees to have his back tattooed by one of the most sulphurous contemporary artists of the moment. He then becomes a highly rated work on the art market. The stellar main cast chosen by Ben Hania includes actors Yahya Mahayni, Monica Bellucci, Koen de Bouw, Dea Liane and Wim Delvoye.

The Man Who Sold His Skin is being produced by Tanit Films (France), Cinétéléfilms (Tunisia), Twenty Twenty Vision (Germany), Kwassa Films (Belgium) and Laika Film & Television (Sweden), and co-produced by Canada’s Guillaume Rambourg, Istanbul-based firm Metafora Production (Turkey), and Tunisian brothers Lassaad and Rafik Kilani. Paris-based outfit BAC Films is in charge of its world sales. The film will be ready for theatrical release in autumn 2020.
