After officially being launched at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in Paris last month, the pre-sales for Suzanna Andler by Benoît Jacquot (see the article), with its tantalising duo of topliners Charlotte Gainsbourg and Niels Schneider, will shift up a gear at the European Film Market during the 70th Berlinale (20 February-1 March), where the international sales division of French outfit Les Films du Losange (managed by Margaret Ménégoz) will be unveiling a never-before-seen promo-reel.

Now in post-production, Suzanna Andler revolves around a 40-year-old woman who, accompanied by her lover, views a Riviera beach house for her family's summer holidays. This day, this break in her routine, in this new house, will mark a turning point in her life. Based on the Marguerite Duras play of the same name, Suzanna Andler is the portrait of a woman trapped in her marriage to a wealthy, unfaithful businessman in the 1960s. She must choose between her conventional destiny as a wife and mother, and her freedom, embodied by her young lover.

Headed up by Alice Lesort, the Les Films du Losange sales team has announced the arrival of a new title on its slate: My Best Part [+see also:

, the feature-length directorial debut by actor Nicolas Maury. Produced by CG Cinéma, currently in post-production and boasting a cast comprising the filmmaker himself, Nathalie Baye, Arnaud Valois and Laure Calamy, the movie centres on up-and-coming actor Jérémie, who is going through an existential crisis. Pathologically jealous and plagued by romantic, professional and family misadventures, he flees Paris to recharge his batteries in the country with his mother – who turns out to be more than a little invasive…

Standing out among the market premieres is the Austrian title Oskar & Lilli [+see also:

). Produced by Wega Film, and starring Leopold Pallua, Rosa Zant and Christine Ostermayer, the movie hinges on Chechen refugee kids Oskar (eight) and Lilli (13), who have been living in Austria for six years and are about to be deported along with their mother. When their mum attempts suicide, it results in the short-term suspension of the deportation process – but also in the forced separation of the family. The children's hope that they will be reunited with their mother is fuelled by their love for each other as they attempt to overcome the countless bureaucratic obstacles with passion and poetry. A bittersweet odyssey about the many ways of perceiving the world around you in order to survive.
