Introducing the Wild Boys
On October 2, the film Die wilden Kerle ("The Wild Boys"), will be released in German cinemas. It is directed and written by Joachim Masannek, the author of a series of children’s books with the same title, and who is also the trainer of the "real" football team from Grünwald, which also plays under the same name. Alongside the actors Uwe Osenknecht, Rufus Beck and Cornelia Froboess, Masannek directs 17 young debutants, aged between 7 and 13, many of whom are “sons of established artists”: Jimi Blue and Wilson Gonzales, the sons of Osenknecht, Jonathan and Sara, Beck’s children, Raban Bieling, the son of the composer Klaus Hirschburger and the art director Susann Bieling (Nowhere in Africa), as well as the director’s own sons, Leon and Marlon.
The film is produced for Sam Film by Ewa Karlström and Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton, with funding from the FFF and the Bayerisch Bankenfond. It will be distributed in cinemas by Buena Vista International.
