The Emperor’s Wife wins at Viareggio

The new film by Julien Vrebos, The Emperor’s Wife, has won the prize for Best Music at the 20th edition of the Festival of European Films, EuropaCinema in Viareggio, which ended on September 27.

The film’s soundtrack was composed by Max Beesley from Britain, who was also the main actor in the production. “When we were shooting the scene in the dancehall” recalls Julien Vrebos, “I heard Max playing a piece on the piano that was precisely the style of music I wanted for the film. I immediately asked him to compose the whole soundtrack, something he did with great enthusiasm”.
