European Funding Weekend

Documentary filmmaking and producing in Europe will be the focus of the ‘European Documentary Funding Weekend’ on October 4 and 5 in London.
The event is the first of its kind being held in the capital. It is being organised by the London-based Documentary Filmmakers Group (DFG), the MEDIA Desk UK and the European Documentary Network (EDN).
The work will be split into two main sessions: on Saturday, Tue Steen Miller, Head of EDN and Agnieszka Moody (MEDIA Desk UK) will explain to a wide audience what European broadcasters are looking for in documentary filmmaking, how to approach them and the opportunities offered by the MEDIA Programme. The second session (from Saturday afternoon until Sunday) will be open to 16 pre-selected participants who will submit their proposals and practice pitching to European funds and broadcasters.
Ximena Cordova, the Head of Training at DFH said: “we hope to fill the gap between all those unknown funding opportunities and the hundreds of interesting projects with a cross-border potential that go unmade for lack of money”.
