Namur, an eclectic set of awards

The big winner at the 18th edition of the International Festival of Francophone Films in Namur was Quebec. The event closed on October 3, and the jury for Fiction, led by Andrzej Zulawski, gave the Golden Bayard for best film to the production from Quebec La grande séduction by Jean-François Pouliot, which was also given €7,500 from the National Lottery and €10,000 from RTBF for purchasing the rights.
The special guests at the festival included Jean Claude Brialy who handed over the Special Jury Prize to Mille Mois a co-production between Belgium, France and Morocco, directed by Faouzi Bensaidi. The film has already won a prize at the Un certain regard section in Cannes.
The Golden Bayard for Best Actor was given to Luc Picard for 20h17, rue Darling by Bernard Emond (Quebec).

For the documentaries section the jury was led by the Belgium director, Thierry Michel, and the Golden Bayard and TV5 Prize worth €6,125 went to the work by Nina Toussaint and Massimo Iannetta La décomposition de l’âme (Belgium). The youth jury awarded its prize to the first work, Travail d’arabe by the French director Christian Philibert while the Ciné & FX Award went to Pas de repos pour les braves by Alain Guiraudie. The Public prize went to the co-production between France, Belgium and Algeria, Le soleil assassiné.
