Giuseppe Bonito currently on the set of L’Arminuta
- Fresh off the success of Figli, the Italian director is filming an Italian-Swiss co-production based on Donatella Di Pietrantonio’s book of the same name
It’s August 1975. A 13-year-old girl is given back to the family she didn’t even know she was part of. Suddenly, she loses everything she’d had in her previous life: a comfortable house and the exclusive affection reserved for only children. She finds herself in an alien world barely marked by progress, and is forced to share the confines of a small, dark house with five other siblings.
Fresh off the success of Figli [+see also:
film profile] (which won three Nastri d'Argento Awards and grossed €3.3 million at the Italian box office), Italian director Giuseppe Bonito is now filming L’Arminuta, based on the book of the same name by Donatella Di Pietrantonio, which won the Campiello Award in 2017.
The shoot for the movie, which is taking place almost entirely in and around Rieti, will last six weeks. The cast includes Sofia Fiore (in the role of Arminuta), Vanessa Scalera, Fabrizio Ferracane, Elena Lietti, Carlotta De Leonardis and Andrea Fuorto.
The screenplay for L’Arminuta (which in the Abruzzese dialect means “The Returned”) was penned by Monica Zapelli and Donatella Di Pietrantonio. The film is an Italian-Swiss production by Baires Produzioni, Maro Film and Kafilm together with Rai Cinema, with support from Lazio Cinema International - Regione Lazio and Mibact.
