A revitalised Abycine Lanza gets a make-over
Directors Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro, whose project Hawai has been selected for Abycine Lanza

On 22, 23 and 24 October, the fifth edition of the Abycine Lanza Audiovisual Market for Independent Spanish Film is being held as an integral part of the 22nd Abycine – Albacete Film Festival. Its CMM Abycine Lanza Project Forum will welcome representatives of 18 works, while the Abycine Lanza WIP Forum will invite eight titles at the post-production stage, and another four feature-film projects will partake in the brand-new AB Audiovisual Forum section. A clutch of experts will choose the best ones in each strand, after they have battled it out for two prizes worth €17,250 in the first, €7,000 in the second and €3,000 in the third. In addition, meetings and one-to-one sessions will be organised in order to seek out partners and collaborators for every single one.

The projects in CMM Abycine Lanza will broach a broad range of subjects such as childhood transsexualism (20.000 especies de abejas by Estíbaliz Urresola), prostitution (Ana no duerme by Daniel Gil Suárez), neighbourly disputes (Calle de los Ángeles by Silvia Rey) and the burden of family inheritance (El peso by Tamara Lucarini). Furthermore, things will get more daring with a diverse batch of experiments, such as a cinematic art piece about urban planning (Almanaka by Jorge Moneo Quintana), time-travelling encounters (Anoche conquisté Tebas by Gabriel Azorín) and much-needed fantastical comedies (Golem by Burnin’ Percebes), among others.

There will also be cause to celebrate the return of the collaboration between Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro with the comedy-drama Hawai, 11 years after Me, Too [+see also:
