The Swedish director, Marianne Ahrne, the winner of a Guldbagge Award, has just been appointed as a Film Consultant at the Svenska Filminstitet - Swedish Film Institute.
Born in 1940, Ahrne studied filmmaking at the Dramatiska Institutet between 1967-69 and went on to direct feature films and TV series including Långt borta och nära (“Far away and close”) in 1976 for which she was awarded a Gludbagge for Best Direction, and the TV series Maskrosbarn (“Dandelion children”) in 1989, which was the winner of a Silver Nymph at the Monte-Carlo Film Festival.
Commenting on her new appointment, Ahrne said: “after a life in which almost all my dreams came true, I look forward to helping others realise their dreams”.
Arhne takes over a position left vacant last September by Lena Hansson Varhegyi, who joined the DFI - Danish Film Institute as a Film Consultant.
