Ten projects were selected at the 4th 2020 session of the CNC’s advance on receipts: seven at the second committee, and three at the first. Standing out among them is Les jeunes filles à la peau blanche dans la nuit by Patricia Mazuy. This will be the 5th fiction feature from the director, after Peaux de vaches (Un Certain Regard in Cannes in 1989, nominated for the Best Feature Debut César award in 1990), The King's Daughters (Un Certain Regard in 2000, eight nominations at the 2001 Césars), Of Women and Horses [+see also:

(2018). The pitch for this new film, co-written by the director with Yves Thomas, goes as follows: One night, in a big city, some young girls with white skin and a serial killer… Vincent Macaigne is set to head the cast of the film, produced by Patrick Sobelman for Ex Nihilo and distributed in France by ARP Sélection.

(2016) and Old Fashioned (released in France on 10 February 2021). The film will centre on a vampire, afraid of women and of blood, sent to Japan and tasked to return with a wife, so as to ensure the continuation of the family lineage. To assert himself, he will have to fight against the dogmas and traditions of vampires. In this world of violence, he finds his salvation thanks to poetry… Production is handled by Masa Sawada for Comme des cinémas.

Also granted an advance on receipts are Je voudrais parler de Duras, which will mark a great return to fiction for prolific filmmaker Claire Simon (produced by François d’Artemare for Les Films de l’après-midi); Cinq hectares by Émilie Deleuze (produced by Ex Nihilo); animation project Robot Dreams from Spanish director Pablo Berger (produced on the French side by Jérôme Vidal for Noodles Production and Sylvie Pialat for Les Films du Worso); and two documentaries: En nous by Régis Sauder (produced by Thomas Ordonneau for Shellac Sud) and De humani corporis frabrica from the duo Verena Paravel - Lucien Castaing-Taylor (handled by Valentina Novati for Norte Productions).

Finally, three feature debut projects will benefit from an advance on receipts: Jean-Baptiste Durand’s Chien de la casse (produced by Anaïs Bertrand for Insolence Productions), Maxime Rappaz’s Laissez-moi (produced by Camille Genaud for Paraïso Production Diffusion) and the documentary Polaris by Ainara Vera (handled by Clara Vuillermoz for Point du jour and Les Films du Balibari).
