France and Italy on TV

The German television channel ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) is putting on a series of specials, mainly dedicated to Italy and France, as its contribution to Cinedays 2003. There will be a section called "Italian film classics" on 3sat, with films like Rome, Open City (1945) by Roberto Rossellini (October 19 at 11:20) and La strada (1954) by Federico Fellini (October 23 at 20:15), together with a host of information and news on the website www.3sat.de.

The focus on France on 3sat will feature a mini review of the works of the French director André Techiné, with a chance to see My Favourite Season from 1993 (October 10 at 22:30), Scene of the Crime from 1986 (October 16 at 20:15) and Rendez vous from 1985 (October 17 at 22:30). On October 9, at 09:45, ZDF will be showing The snake's kiss by Philippe Rousselot, made as a co-production in 1996 between France, Germany and Britain and Alexis Zorbas made in 1964 by Michale Cacoyannis.
