Sales for Peter Sellers Biopic

Icon Film Distribution and Warner Bros Video have jointly acquired the theatrical home video rights for HBO’s The Life And Death of Peter Sellers respectively for distribution in the UK and Australia/New-Zealand.

The film which has just finished shooting in London is directed by Stephen Hopkins (Under Suspicion) from Roger Lewis’s eponymous book. Playing the British comic actor famous for The Pink Panther series is Geoffrey Rush, joined in the prestigious cast by Charlize Theron, John Lithgow, Stephen Fry, Stanley Tucci and Emily Watson.
“Icon and Warner Home Video recognise that audiences in the UK and Australia will embrace this portrayal of both the eccentricities and genius of Peter Sellers”, said HBO’s sales team, Penny Wolf and Rosa Bosch. Also commenting on the deal, Icon’s CEO, Nick Hill said that it will allow his company to develop even stronger ties with their partners at Warner Home Video and BBC Films, who had previously acquired UK TV rights on the film.

in UK cinemas with a massive launch of 192 prints. The film took £327,293 on its opening weekend with a slightly disappointing screen average of £1,704.
