CINEDAYS 2003 Germany

RBB to show niche films

by

In contrast to the other German TV channels which have decided to broadcast past classics of European cinema as part of Cinedays 2003, Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg has chosen to show recent films, almost all of which are by minor authors linked to cinematographic productions from central Europe.

The German films include Alaska.de (2000) by Ester Gronenbaum (October 15), Nostalgia Europa (2001) by Alida Babel (October 20) and Angels of the universe (2000) by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, a Scandanavian film co-produced by Germany (October 11).
Then there’s the Polish film, Czesc Tereska (2001) by Robert Glinski (October 16), Love me (2000) by the French director Laetitia Masson (October 18) and the Dutch La sposa polacca (1998) by Karim Traida (October 23). The only famous director being featured in this mini review is the British director Mike Leigh, with a broadcast of his film Career girls from 1997 being shown on October 22.
