The second EAVE PUENTES 2020 workshop and PUENTES ITALIA are ready to run

The second workshop of EAVE PUENTES 2020 is ready to kick off on Monday at 14:00 in a completely new digital environment. The participants, who are coming from Europe and Latin America, have already attended the first leg of the online workshop, which took place last November and December.

Created by the EAVE team, along with Elena Bertoni, (the Puentes local coordinator at Friuli-Venezia Giulia), and developed with Swiss company WYTH (read our interview), the EAVE COMMUNITY is a new digital platform that connects its users in a virtual space and offers an experience as close as a physical workshop. It should be noted that the same virtual space will be used in other programmes, such as the EAVE Producers Workshop which kicks off on 7 March.

EAVE CEO Kristina Trapp mentioned: “For us, it was crucial to transport the ‘EAVE spirit’ and human factor to the online environment. The tight-knit professional network our participants get once they participate is one of the key assets for their future careers and the fuel for us to start developing EAVE COMMUNITY.”

Allowing producers to naturally connect and interact, the EAVE COMMUNITY is designed as a hotel map, with different rooms leading them to plenary sessions, individual meetings with experts and to a library room, where all the resources are located — from participants’ profiles and project presentations, to pedagogical tools and recorded plenary sessions. Participants can easily navigate the map and have at their disposal a helpdesk in case they have any questions. Furthermore, they can network at the Producers’ Lounge, a common place for both the participants of PUENTES and of Producers Workshop, which will be running at the same time.

Regarding the experts of EAVE PUENTES 2020’s second workshop, Sébastien Beffa (Playtime), Fran Araújo (Movistar Plus+) and Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film) will share their experiences and insights about the film industry, and the plenary sessions will be moderated by the PUENTES group Leaders, producers Didar Domehri (Maneki Films) from France and Fernando Epstein (Mutante Cine) from Uruguay.

Furthermore, EAVE is organising PUENTES ITALIA, a local workshop in cooperation with MiBACT and the regional audiovisual fund of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, which has selected 15 Italian producers and professionals, guided by Uruguayan producer Agustina Chiarino (Mutante Cine), who are interested in co-producing with Latin America. They will have a dedicated programme and meetings with renowned experts Aranka Matitis (Featurette), Tatiana Leite (Bubbles Project) and Juan Manuel Torres (Latido Films). All of the PUENTES and the PUENTES ITALIA participants will have joint networking sessions where they will get a chance to meet each other and they will also be able to attend some of the plenary sessions of both programmes.

Alessandro Gropplero, head of international relations at FVG Audiovisual Fund, mentioned: “For the third consecutive year, we are very happy to co-organise PUENTES ITALIA, a real bridge which aims to directly connect our producers and other Italian film professionals to the Latin American industry. It is a unique chance, especially now that Italy is part of the IBERMEDIA Programme, to explore the funding and co-production opportunities offered by this film landscape but also to better understand the market potential.”

In addition to the partnership with FVG and thanks to the strategic long-term cooperation with MiBACT, PUENTES is hosted every second year by a different Italian region, such as Roma Lazio in 2019 in cooperation with the Roma Lazio Film Commission and South Tyrol in cooperation with IDM Alto Adige in June/July 2021 (read the news).
