FESTIVALS Germany

Tribute to Austrian cinema

by

The film Wolfzeit by Michael Haneke will kick off the 16th edition of the Exground film festival in i Wiesbaden on November 14. This year the festival is featuring a retrospective of the works of the maestro of Austrian cinema, showing the range of his work, from his debut making low budget movies to his more recent international successes. In addition, the programme includes more than 40 films and 20 short works: and the public will be casting their votes for the best short film.
The feature length films include works from all around the globe, especially linked to independent productions: these include Ken park by Larry Clark and Ed Lachman, Lilya 4-ever by Lukas Moodysson, Revengers Tragedy by Alex Cox, 9 Souls by Toshiaki Toyoda and The technical writer by Scott Saunders. These last two will be presented to the public by the directors themselves.
The tribute to Austrian cinema, apart from the review dedicated to Haneke, will also feature two recent off-the-wall comedies: Nogo (Id) by Sabine Hiebler and Gerhard Ertl, starring a series of German actors, including the omnipresent Jürgen Vogel, and Ravioli (Id) by Alfred Dorfer.
