Animation in the frame

by

The Austrian office for consultation on media teaching (Medienpädagogische Beratungsstelle) is taking part in Cinedays 2003, under the banner “With a click and a trick – European animation cinema” (“Mit Klick und Trick – der europäische Trickfilme”). From October 20 to 24 there’s been a special review dedicated to animation films, aimed at introducing the younger members of the audience to the European animation tradition and to improve their understanding of the creative process involved. There will be screenings of the British cartoon, Wallace and Gromit and the recent German production Till Eulenspiegel, which are just as good as international productions, from America and Japan.
Meanwhile the Festival for Children’s Films in Schlingel, taking place from October 13 to 19, there’ll be a European jury made up of 12 young representatives from 6 different countries sitting alongside the other traditional jury entirely made up of children. They will be judging the film which will receive a prize of €2,000. The event will also feature a discussion forum on the European cinema and aesthetic education in cinematography, open to everyone, especially teachers for children of all ages.
