Focus on cinema at Valencia
On October 20, Valencia will be the venue for a series of discussions on the theories and solutions to improve the situation for national cinematography during the "Crossroads of Spanish Cinema” forum. The event is being organised by the Foundation for Audiovisual Studies (FIA) and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), in collaboration with the Institute of Cinematography and Visual Arts (ICAA).
The Forum is for film and TV professionals and will be continuing until October 24. It’s an opportunity to analyse the prospects and trends in cinema, and looking at the competitiveness of films, while trying to spot any long term problems.
The event will be opened by the French actress and director, Agnes Jaoui, who will be presenting a country that many other wish to emulate in its support of cinematography. Here will be round table discussions held during the four days, concentrating on screenwriting, directing, production, distribution and the marketplace for operators. Naturlaly there will be participation from a series of special guests including the filmmakers José Luis Borau and Inez Paris, the screenwriter Manuel Gutierrez Aragon, the producers Antonio Perez, Andres Vicente Gòomez, the director of the IVAC (the Valencia Cinematographic Institute) José Luis Rado and Jesus Hernandez the director of the Spanish MEDIA Desk.
The discussions will be wrapped by José Marìa Otero, the director general of the ICAA, who will be holding a press conference about the prospects for Spanish cinema.
