Under vice-president Georges Goldenstern, Ciné Fondation, the commission set up to aid distribution by the Centre National de la Cinématographie has decided to contribute Euro 214,000 to the cinema release of nine films, at the close of the August – September 2003 session.

Two feature-length films received a contribution of Euro 38,000: the winner of Critics’ Week at the last Cannes Film Festival Depuis qu'Otar est parti by Julie Bertuccelli, and Le tango de Rashevski by Sam Garbarski, distributed respectively by Haut et Court and Rezo Films. Four films received a Euro 25,000 contribution: On est pas des marques de vélo by Jean-PierreThorn (Mat Films), Les jours où je n'existe pas by Jean-Charles Fitoussi (Pierre Grise Distribution), Elle est des nôtres by Siegrid Alnoy (Ad Vitam) and De guerres lasses by Laurent Bécue Renard (Alice Films). La chose publique by Mathieu Amalric, screened in Quinzaine des Réalisateurs section at the Cannes Film Festival, and distributed by Why Not Productions, received a contribution of Euro 18,000.

Two European films also received a contribution. Both the Austrian production Lovely Rita by Jessica Hausner, which will be distribuited in France by Zootrope Films on 5th November, and the Swedish Cops by Josef Fares, which was released on 24th September, distributed by Equation, received Euro 10,000 each.
The CNC has also assigned 10 prints to Haut et Court for Depuis qu'Otar est parti and to Films du Préeau for distribution in the short-film programme Des rois qui voulaient plus d'une couronne.
