Peter Greenaway´s Italian Job

by

- The Welsh director is scouting Italy for locations for The Tulse Luper Suitcase, an ambitious multimedia project that includes a web site, DVD and CD-Rom

Peter Greenaway is in pre-production for his new film, The Tulse Luper Suitcase, a complex project scheduled to run for eight hours that is likely to be edited into three or even four distinct feature films. Set over a sixty-year period that goes from 1928 to 1989, it is the story of a lift operator called Tulse Luper, who works in Turin´s Mole Antonelliana. The script calls for a large number of characters, all of whom have 92 suitcases and witness or take part in 92 events.
Greenaway, who is currently in Turin looking for suitable locations, was eager to emphasise that this will be one of the first truly multimedia projects for cinema and beyond, and will capture the interest of a wider audience than were it limited to a theatrical screening.
