The Wallonia-Brussels Federation has signed a new co-production agreement with Senegal during an official visit to Belgium by Senegalese President Macky Sall. This agreement also forms part of a wider initiative to encourage international cooperation between French-speaking countries, the WBF being one of the founding partners of the ‘Fonds d’aide à la Jeune Création francophone’ (Support Fund for Young French-Speaking Creators) which aims to breathe new life into local, Sub-Saharan African production (all types of content and media included).

This is the 12th bilateral agreement to be signed by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, following those concluded with Uruguay (news) and Canada (news) in 2018, with Chile (news) in 2017 and with the Netherlands in 2016. Specific bilateral agreements have also been signed with countries considered to be key players in the domain, such as France and Switzerland, while advanced negotiations on co-production agreements with the Ukraine and Lebanon are currently underway, and talks are also taking place with Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Burkina Faso and Rwanda.
