Written by Solinas Prize finalists Ciro Zecca and Luca Mastrogiovanni, Crystal Girl is the story of a young “hikikomori”, which is the name given to adolescents who choose to turn their bedrooms into prison cells. Spying on her neighbours, she realises that something frightening is unfolding in the apartment opposite her. But her desire to investigate clashes with the impossibility of leaving her bedroom and leads to unexpected situations.

The cast of the film, which is described as a psychological thriller, is led by Carolina Sala (the series Fedeltà, TV dramas La guerra è finita and Pezzi unici), Tommaso Ragno (Happy As Lazzaro [+see also:

Founded in 2019 by Daniele Basilio and Silvio Maselli, who have both worked as audiovisual executives for some 20 years now (Maselli, in particular, was the president of the Italian Film Commissions, secretary general of ANICA and a Culture and Tourism councilor in Bari), Fidelio’s creative team also comprises partners Valerio Mastandrea (awarded 4 David di Donatello trophies as an actor, but he’s also a director and screenwriter) and the dancer and choreographer Elisa Barucchieri.

Crystal Girl will be shot entirely in a studio, with special effects entrusted to Edi and specialist make-up to Andrea Leanza (both of whom received awards at the 2021 David di Donatellos). The film will be distributed in Italy and elsewhere by Vision Distribution.
