New Nordic Films announces its Works in Progress and Market Screenings

Running in parallel with the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund (21-27 August), New Nordic Films aims to bring the newest trends of the region in four days, 24-27 August, both on site and also in a special online edition. As always, the programme includes a selection of market screenings, work-in-progress presentations, projects in development, a number of Haugesund talks and a series of professional and social events onsite.

The opening film of the market screenings is the large-scale period drama Margrete – Queen of the North [+see also:

A total of 17 projects in post-production have been selected to be presented on Thursday 26 August as works-in-progress. Some of the highlights included in the selection are Diorama, the third feature film by Swedish director Tuva Novotny (Blind Spot [+see also:

by Norway’s Erik Poppe, an epic drama based on the classic 1949 novel of the same name (read the news), while Finnish filmmaker Aku Louhimies brings two films to the selection, the intimate love story The Wait [+see also:

 and the action-thriller Omerta 1/2.

Furthermore, The Store (working title), the third feature from Swedish filmmaker Hanna Sköld (Granny’s Dancing on the Table [+see also:

) and Sous les pavés! La plage, the third feature by Swedish helmer Henrik Hellström (The Quiet Roar [+see also:

) and Bubble by Jussi-winning Finnish filmmaker Aleksi Salmenperä (read the news) are among the selection. Also, The Good Driver, the debut fiction feature film by Helsinki-based Bulgarian director Tonislav Hristov (read the news) and Baby Pyramid by debutant Danish filmmaker Cecilie McNair (read the news), are among the works in progress.
