A busy autumn for BBC Films

With three films screening at the London Film Festival (LFF), 16 nominations at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) and seven films in post-production, the film division of the BBC has a very busy schedule this autumn.

During the LFF Roger Michell’s The mother starring Daniel Craig and Anne Reid will have a British Gala presentation on October 25, Emily Young’s debut feature Kiss of Life will screen in the New British Cinema Section on November 4th, and Christine Jeff’s Sylvia is set for the closing night gala on November 6th. All three films will open very soon in the UK: Momentum Releasing will open The Mother on November 14, Artificial Eye Kiss of Life on January 14 and Icon Film Distributors Sylvia in late January.
The BBC Films that will compete this year for the BIFA awards -handed out on November 4th are Stephen Frears’ Dirty Pretty Things [+see also:

, Michael Winterbottom’s In This World , Sarah Gavron’s debut feature This Little Life, Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s The Heart of Me and Tim Fywell’s I Capture The Castle. More exciting titles from established directors and newcomers will be unveiled in 2004: Richard Eyre’s Compleat Female Stage Beauty starring Billy Crudup and Claire Danes; Pawel Pawlikowski’s My Summer of Love, Danny Boyle’s Millions, Norman Jewison’s The Statement written by Oscar winner Ronald Harwood (The Pianist [+see also:

), Marc Evans’ Trauma with Colin Firth, Stephen Hopkins’ Peter Sellers biopic with Geoffrey Rush and Charlize Theron, and Saul Dibb’s first feature film The Boys.
