Future of the media in Munich

by

Tomorrow afternoon sees the start of "Medientage München", the event dedicated to developments in the media organised by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. It is considered as a summit for the heads of European cinema, with speeches being given by professionals from the field representing 6 countries.

The discussions will be based around the subject of the standing of European cinema on the world market, the production and distribution systems and the current European political dimension for the sector. On this subject, Sir Alan Parker, the director, producer and president of the UK Film Council, said: "All directors make their films in places where they are guaranteed to have the best conditions possible: to improve the situation in Europe and to create a winning cinematographic and cultural industry, on the one hand we have to develop the resources available to us, and on the other we have to instigate improved collaboration with Brussels. We have to face up to the fact that at the moment Los Angeles is the centre for film production, but in the future Europe can also become the pivotal point for the market ". The "media days" will also see participation by the directors Cedomir Kolar, Caroline Link and Klaus Schaefer, and representatives from GF Bavaria Film, Cattleya Film, Get Reel Film, and GF film Verleih.
